Family Empowerment Centers of Chicago exists and operates based on 5 primary values from which this organization states that we are about Empowerment, Community, Faith, Justice, Education, Family, Reconciliation and Partnership. Those values are:
All people matter to God.Mankind was created in the image of God and as creator, God has a great love and compassion for mankind. Mankind was created by and for God and therefor they have value and worth. God is fully aware of mankind's diversity and has a love for all people from all the nations of the world. Because of this great love for mankind, God wants to transform lives by setting people free from the consequences of a fallen state and empower them to live lives of hope. Reference
All people are interdependent on one another.People have a responsibility to care for one another as individuals, families and communities. The marriage relationship is the most significant interdependent relationship outside of ones relationship with God. The relationship between the parent and child is the next most important interdependent relationship as it is clear that a parents lifestyle and moral decisions in caring for their children will affect multiple generations for either the positive or negative. As families interact with one another around common values and beliefs they will want to worship God together. The diversity of mankind creates areas of strength and weakness between individuals whereby it is inevitable that mankind is dependent on one another for resources. Mankind is obligated to share assets (be it wisdom, finances, time, strength etc) between one another and in the care of all the worlds people. Reference
All people are in a continual process of growth.People are spiritual, physical, psychological and social beings that are effected by the continual process of life itself. People when wholly nurtured tend to effect change around them through their life example and their willingness to stay within the natural growth process. Reference
Judeo-Christian principles are life changing.These principles produce hope when applied in a conscientious manner through love, faith, grace, mercy, integrity, and justice. The application of these principles is much like the seasoning of salt. Applied in any way other than that which is conscientious creates a great distaste. Reference
Healthy partnerships mobilize available skills and resources creating opportunity. Through the diversity of creation and the life process some people have a greater ability to perform certain task than do others. One's ability to accomplish certain tasks often creates resources that are unavailable to others with skills in different areas. Through unity and partnership the strategic sharing and distribution of resources will create a more balanced family, community and world. Reference
